Cashel

Cashel's key attraction is the Rock of Cashel, pictured left. It is open year-round.
Cashel is not on the railway network but can be accessed by bus from Cahir, Clonmel and Thurles (details below).
The Heritage Centre - Tourist Office is located on the Main Street near the bus stops.

Travelling to Cashel:
From Cahir: take a Dublin Airport-bound Bus Éireann Expressway route X8 from the stop opposite the tourist office in Cahir. The journey takes twenty minutes and during the day there is coach every two hours each way. The coach stops on the Main Street in Cashel. The current adult day return fare is €8.40 and can be purchased in cash from the driver. One may return on any coach on the same day (if wishing to overnight in Cashel buy a monthly return). Alternatively the ticket can be purchased online from the Bus Éireann website for €7.98 day return; the e-mail confirmation must either be printed off or displayed on a mobile device for the driver. The driver will then issue a ticket. NB: This fare will increase on 01 Dec 2015.
From Clonmel: The Shamrock Bus Company has routes between Clonmel and Thurles one of which serves Cashel en route. The usual journey time is 50 minutes.
From Thurles: If travelling to/from Dublin before/after a visit to Cashel it is possible to rejoin/leave the railway at Thurles, which has regular trains to/from the capital taking around 1 hour 15 minutes. The bus journey time between Cashel and Thurles and vice versa varies between 30 and 45 minutes (Shamrock Bus Company).
